New Cinema Addresses Its Call – 9th AIDFF Athens International Digital Film Festival
The application period for the 9th Athens International Digital Film Festival (AIDFF) has begun and the form will be accepted until March 10, 2020.
The above announcement was made by the artistic director Christos N. Karakasis and the producer of the festival Vassiliki Kappa.
The Festival promotes the idea of digital cinema.
The festival defined and promoted the concept of the New Cinema. It is also the only festival in Greece and one of the few in Europe to embrace all kinds of cinematic art.
The Festival includes feature films, documentaries, animations, experimental video art, video dance and student films. All these films were created with the new digital media.
During these eight years, the Festival has become the favorite destination of filmmakers from everywhere. Within this condition, therefore, a new generation of creators with open horizons is constantly being created, without any dividing lines.
The Athens International Digital Film Festival is already a meeting point for creators and viewers. As an institution, it has achieved an alignment of contemporary cinematic reality in Greece with major international developments in cinema, which is steadily moving towards its digital age.
The Festival was characterized as innovative. For this reason, it immediately received a great and unexpected response from the international cinema community.
The ergonomics and availability of digital filmmakers and the endless techniques of digital editing allow modern filmmakers them to achieve traditionally impossible tasks.
Alongside they create a vibrant community of millions of people around the world who are interested in cinema, who influencing other arts, which often borrow tools, technology and ideas inspired by cinema to create new art species.
The Festival is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and is supported by the Municipality of Athens.
The Festival is organized by KOYINTA and Tickets Tickets company. It also has affiliated companies and cultural correspondents in many cities in Greece as well as in countries around the world.

Applications will be accepted by the festival until March 10, 2020.
