«As dance professionals, consider your role in the current state of the pandemic, lock-in, and curfew. People need you now and they will need you after this crisis. Produce a vaccine against the virus of the soul: You know how to make people dance. Listen the call, answer it!» Alkis Raftis – President of CID.
Mr. Zisopol stressed that the International Dance Council (CID) was founded in 1973 at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris and noted that it brings together international, national, and local associations as well as personalities active in the field of dance in more than 170 countries.
CID – UNESCO and the UNION OF GREEKS OF ROMANIA
«Among the member organizations of CID – UNESCO is the UNION OF GREEKS OF ROMANIA, whose fundamental purpose is to preserve and express the national, cultural, linguistic and religious identity of its members.
Among the ways to achieve this desideratum is the traditional Greek dance.
More than 30 Greek dance groups are currently operating in the regional communities of the Union of Greeks of Romania and most of them are registered, since 2011, in the State Office of Inventions and Trademarks (O.S.I.M)», pointed out Mr. Zisopol.
The dance groups of the Union of Greeks of Romania
At the same time, the president of UER underlined that the authentic choreographies, the traditional costumes bought from Greece, and the experience gained over time by the dance groups of the Union of Greeks of Romania, created the conditions for the administration of this organization to take the necessary steps in 2018 and at the same time to obtain the title of a full member of the “International Dance Council” – UNESCO for 17 of its ensembles.
It is characteristic that at present the Union of Greeks of Romania has a “portfolio” with 20 Greek dance ensembles that are members of the “International Dance Council”, bands that bring within UNESCO, internationally, added value for Romania.
Invitation for the International Online Dance Conference
Mr. Zisopol thanked all those who throughout the existence of the Union of Greeks of Romania has contributed to the creation and development of Greek dance ensembles that have contributed and continue to promote Greek customs and traditions and participatory education through dance.
